Nokia’s Ovi Is Now Open for Business

Nokia has made it official. The Ovi online Nokia store is now live.

Nokia promised to open its online doors by the end of May and they have been true to their word with a soft launch in Australia, Ireland and Singapore occurring last week. Each country around the world will go live at separate times according to Nokia, who explain that fresh servers had to be created to launch the store so Ovi will go up server by server. Some countries will have to be more patient than others.

The store gives Nokia users the option of buying a full range of applications and tools in one central location. It also provides the users of the new Nokia 5800 the option of downloading music, and keeping their messaging and browser systems up to date with the latest technology coming straight out of the Nokia lab.

Tero Ojanperä , Executive Vice president, Nokia Services released a statement on behalf of Ovi last week. “Ovi Store is open for business and we’ve stocked the shelves with both local and global content for a broad range of Nokia devices. Ovi Store makes shopping for content and applications easy and fun for feature phone and smartphone owners alike.”

The users of the new touch screen models like the 5800 will benefit the most from this store but users of the N96 and N95 claim that the store has also provided them with much needed tools.
