Samsung Solar Powered Mobile E1107

Samsung had launched a new generation of cheap mobiles in India as Guru series. The latest addition to this series is the solar powered mobile E1107. The mobile thus has dual power supply options-electricity and solar energy. Electric supply, however remains the main power source for the model. Solar charging is useful when the battery is almost ran out and the user is having ample sunlight around him. The solar charging panel mounted on the back of the model absorbs sunlight and converts it into electricity, thus charging the battery. The power obtained in this slow process is also low-the phone provides a talktime of about 10 mins after charging it for 1 hour under direct sunlight.

The mobile is compact in design having dimensions 105.2 x 44.15 x 16.4mm. The 1.52 inch, 65,000 colour screen has a resolution of 128×128 pixels. The phone comes with a 1 mb internal memory.

Being a budget phone, it has a premium feature of mobile tracker system which is helpful in tracking the position of the mobile if it is lost or stolen. This is a standard feature in many Samsung mobiles now. The software sends a message when the SIM card in the handset is changed and is even capable of sending SOS message. The mobile also has a Indian feature as “mobile prayer” which plays out prayers of local Indian religions.

The model is tagged at 60$ and along with India, it is also launched in Latin America, South Asia and Europe.
